國民黨總統參選人朱立倫於美東時間14日上午(台灣時間14日晚間)在紐約舉行訪美記者會，聊及他在紐約求學及教書時的回憶。朱立倫表示，他昨天與白宮國安會前亞洲事務資深主任麥艾文聊天時，談到紐約這30年來的變化，兩人都覺得紐約的街景乾淨很多。
朱立倫說，他在唸紐約大學碩士班一年級時開始打工，但薪資很少，從碩二開始便拿獎學金，因此才開始交女朋友。他說，自己雖然念紐約大學，但因為妻子高婉倩當時就讀哥倫比亞大學，因此，他人常常待在哥倫比亞。此外，他還自爆與高婉倩第一次接吻是在哥倫比亞大學的女生宿舍門口。
此外，朱立倫在紐約大學唸書時，在學校常常待到很晚，每天離開學校時，往往只有Gray's Papaya的熱狗店還在營業，他最愛吃辣味的熱狗，配上Pi?a Colada飲料。多年後，朱立倫夫婦重返紐約，想再品嚐那家熱狗，卻找不到店，打聽之下，才知道原來那家店在911事件中受損，所以另覓地點營業，他們就在附近詢問路人，才得知熱狗店新址。朱立倫在記者會現場當場品嚐Gray's Papaya的熱狗，重溫他求學時的回憶。
